PUROLATOR ANNOUNCED AS SIGNATURE PARTNER OF GREY CUP FESTIVAL

HAMILTON (Oct. 19) - The 2023 Grey Cup Festival and Purolator announced an agreement that sees Purolator become a signature partner of the 2023 Grey Cup Festival. As part of the agreement, Purolator will host the Purolator Pep Rally and deliver the Grey Cup to Fan Central on James Street.
In partnership with Purolator, the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board (HWDSB), and the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board (HWCDSB), the Purolator Pep Rally will engage hundreds of students across both boards. Canadian football legends will visit local schools, educating the students on the 110 years of the Grey Cup and the rich history of the CFL, while teaching students the importance of health & fitness and teamwork. Students will also have an opportunity to get their photo taken with the Grey Cup, interact with some of their football heroes, enjoy performances by Stripes and the Ticats Dance and Cheer team and engage in Grey Cup Trivia Challenges. This event will also continue Purolator’s mission to Tackle Hunger with a food drive before each pep rally.
“Engaging with our local communities and specifically the youth in our community is fundamental to the 2023 Grey Cup Festival,” said Gerry Fonzo, General Manager 2023 Grey Cup Festival. “We’re thrilled to partner with Purolator to help give back to the community and engage local students in the rich history of Canadian football and football in Hamilton, while also teaching them the importance of health & fitness in a fun and interactive environment.”
Marking exactly one month until the 110th Grey Cup is played in Hamilton, the Purolator Pep Rally will kick off with its first school visit to St. Matthew Catholic Elementary School in Binbrook, Ontario from 2:05 pm to 3:25 pm on Thursday, October 19th. Media are invited to attend the event.
“For two decades, we’ve partnered with the CFL, and have seen the power of its fans coming together to support our Purolator Tackle Hunger program,” said John Ferguson, President and CEO, of Purolator. “This year’s Grey Cup Festival is special as it offers another opportunity for people to share their love for the game while also giving back. Working with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, local students, and the broader community, we plan to fill the shelves of Hamilton Food Share so we can provide much-needed support at a time when food banks are struggling to keep up with rising demand.”
Purolator will also be the presenting partner of the broader Countdown to Grey Cup program with Bill Kelly, where the Hamilton media legend speaks with heroes of Grey Cups past while keeping listeners informed on everything they need to know about the 110th Grey Cup and 2023 Grey Cup Festival.
When the Grey Cup Festival begins on November 16, Purolator will play an integral part in the delivery of the iconic Grey Cup Trophy to fans. This will see Purolator orchestrating the Grey Cup's journey through various locations and events across the city of Hamilton, culminating in the grand finale at James Street. Here, Purolator will officially open the eagerly anticipated Fan Central, kicking off four days that will combine Hamilton’s love of music and football.
