Easily the busiest day on the schedule, Friday goes hard at the 2022 Grey Cup Festival!

Arrive early to catch the CFL Commissioner’s 2022 Fan State of the League Address, rub shoulders with legends and watch as hundreds of esports athletes make festival history.

Or fuel up for the SaskPower Tube Slide with a free pancake breakfast. at Confederation Park, courtesy of the Calgary Grey Cup Committee!

Here’s how to Make the Most of Friday, starting with:

 

Commissioner’s Fan State of the League Address

10:00-11:00 a.m. | Indoors | Mosaic Village: Riderville | FREE, Fri. ONLY

Join CFL Commissioner Randy Ambrosie as he provides an update on the direction of the league and takes questions from fans in the audience.

This free, all-ages event will be held at Riderville, inside the Viterra International Trade Centre, and hosted by the CFL’s Kristina Costabile. The Grey Cup and the Fan Base will also be on site.

The first 500 fans to arrive will receive a complimentary replica of the coin used for the 109th Grey Cup coin toss!

 

CFLAA Legends Luncheon

11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. | Indoors | Queensbury Convention Centre | TICKETED, Fri. ONLY

This fan-favourite event includes a meal, silent auction, live auction, and heads-or-tails fundraiser. CFL Commissioner Randy Ambrosie and the Grey Cup championship trophy will also be in attendance.

A highlight each year is the Hot Stove, hosted by former CFLer Marshall Hamilton, where you’ll learn the inside scoop and hear first-hand stories from CFL alumni – at least one of whom is seated at every table.

The Alumnus of the Year Award and the Indigenous Champion Award will be presented at this event. Tickets for the CFLAA Legends Luncheon presented by Phoenix Group are  still available online.

 

Touchdown Manitoba

Noon-5:00 p.m. | Indoors | Bombers House: Cooperator’s Centre | TICKETED 19+, Fri. ONLY

Touchdown Manitoba brings together a diverse group of CFL fans from all CFL teams and features performances from various cheer teams, pep bands and mascots.

Occupying a unique time slot, it allows fans to mingle and kick off their  weekend at a true Manitoba Social! This event is 19+ only. Tickets are still available online.

 

Path to Glory Tournament

11:00 a.m.-11:00 p.m. | Indoors | Mosaic Village: Brandt Centre | FREE

Watch more than 200 professional players face off to win the largest prize pool ever offered in Canada for Super Smash Bros Ultimate!

The Path to Glory tournament features winners from nine lead-up events representing CFL markets from across the country, and internationally-ranked competitors from around the world.

There will be in-house commentary for those stopping by to  watch the big screen at the Brandt Centre, along with a professional live stream on Twitch.tv

 

Team Party Rooms

Noon.-1:00 a.m. | Indoors | TICKETED, 19+

Get the party started even earlier Friday, when eight CFL teams plus the Atlantic Schooners open their six themed rooms at noon!

With the exception of Riderville presented by COORS, all Team Party Rooms are located in the Cooperators Centre. Riderville will take over the Viterra International Trade Centre. Ages are 19+ only. 

If you don’t have a Team Party Pass already, single day passes are available for $50. Each room is subject to capacity limits, and access is not guaranteed.

Allow notifications on the Grey Cup app for updates on wait times in lines and which rooms have capacity to walk right in!

 

NexGen Energy Street Festival

11:00 a.m.- 9:00 p.m. | Outdoors | FREE

Enjoy the giant outdoor playground that is the NexGen Energy Street Festival starting with a hot pancake breakfast!

The Calgary Grey Cup Committee will host the free morning meal Friday and Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. inside Confederation Park.

The free, family-friendly street festival includes the park and a large section of the Evraz Place parking lot. It’s also the site of the massive SaskPower Tube Slide and the largest drone show ever in Canada that lifts off, weather permitting, at 9:00 p.m.

 

Harvard Media Community Stage

Varying Hours | Outdoors: Confederation Park | FREE

The Harvard Media Community Stage is a free concert series in Confederation Park featuring Saskatchewan performers and Harvard Media emcees.

The free, family-friendly space is part of the NexGen Energy Street Festival, with live acts throughout the day.

Friday’s lineup includes High Steppin’ Daddy (11:00 a.m.-12:45 p.m.), The Otherz Band (4:10-4:55 p.m.), Aubrie Houk (5:10-5:55 p.m.), Arcana Kings (6:10-7:55 p.m.) and Kriss the Sky (8:10-8:55 p.m.).

 

SaskPower Family Fair & Huddle in the Heartland

11:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m. | Indoors | Mosaic Village: Affinity Plex | FREE

This free, all-ages space features six giant inflatable obstacle courses, and an area to play cornhole, inside the Affinity Plex. A reminder that no outdoor shoes will be allowed on the inflatables. Shoe shelves are available at the venue.

If your child is between the ages of 5 and 12,  Huddle in the Heartland presented by SaskLotteries is a great way to learn all about Canadian football!

Football Saskatchewan leads this interactive programming to help young people grow their game skills and knowledge. From accuracy throwing to kicking, running and more, this is a hands-on, fun experience!

 

Gainer’s Heartland presented by Tourism Saskatchewan

11:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m. | Indoors | Mosaic Village: Ag Ex Building | FREE

This free indoor area is great for families to relax, try local food vendors and let the kids enjoy face painting, hair braiding, a bouncy castle and more. Gainer and some of his mascot friends will even make appearances!

In partnership with Wanuskewin Heritage Park, Gainer’s Heartland presented by Tourism Saskatchewan also offers families a chance to explore the province’s Indigenous roots.

 

Don’t forget to snap a 2022 Grey Cup Festival pic at the Tourism Saskatchewan photo booth. That’s also you can also take home a FREE festival scarf while daily supplies last.

Digital Zone presented by SaskTel

11:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. | Mosaic Village: Viterra International Trade Centre | FREE

Try out cool tech from gaming, to virtual reality and 3D printing in this free, family-friendly area! (Can we include the link to my digital-focused Grey Cup article? I can’t find it on Google)

The Digital Zone presented by SaskTel is located inside the Viterra International Trade Centre as part of Mosaic Village, and will open again for the same hours on Saturday.
